For the longest time, I had some other companies making my doors mostly due to the size limitations of my power tools. Upon encountering an issue that would prevent me from getting my doors in a timely manner, I decided to make my own thickness drum sander for wide panels. The following is my version of the drum sander. Works like a champ! Be sure to check out the first project I made with this sander, The Judge.
For me, this was a weekend project. It helped that I have a farm supply store behind my house (I can hit it with a rock… and a sling shot), therefore it didn’t take long the find the bearings, pillow blocks and rod. The motor was easily borrowed from another of my shop-made tools.
Here is a link to the plans for the drum sander I built for my small shop. I made my first set of doors on a project I call, The Judge. See more about the project, The Judge, on my page in Kreg Jig Owners Community.

About the “Backwoods Cowboy” sign. Someone recently made a comment on one of my posts calling me the Backwoods Cowboy. I just so happened to like it so much I made it my own!
